Abstract: The author tries to simplify the ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometric method in analying petroleum hydrocarbons. The experiments have shown that the transmittancy T of extract solvent petroleum ether can be applied in a larger range, and the dearomatic purification can be simplified or even be omitted. Beinga dehydrating agent, the dehydrated sodium sulfate must be used properly, otherwise a negative derivation would occur. In analysis, the standard oil sample can be replaced by a representative single oil.
