Abstract: On the basis of a great number of aquarium analogue experiments, a novel D. C. electric resistance expecting method?the non-boundless trielectrode section method, which uses casing tubes in the wells as electrodes, has been developed by the authors. This paper reports and discusses the experimental results. It is indicated that for oilfields with regular well patterns this method may provide a cheap and efficient tool for thesearching of residual oils.

Key words: residual oil, aquarium experiment, electric resistivity, casing tube, trielectrode
