Abstract:

Mechanical degradation of HPAM happens during it flows through porous media, and the degradation increases with flow velocity. The flow resistance and residual resistance of polymer solution that has passed through porous media is remarkably lower than that of fresh polymer solution, and its gelling performance is weaker than fresh polymer solution. Higher polymer and cross-linker concentration is needed for gelling. The gelling performance experiments of polymer solution that produced from core flooding experiment should be conducted when evaluating the profile modifier. Laboratory results show that the polymer solution produced from production wells in polymer flooded reservoir can be re-injected after increasing its viscosity by using weak-gel technique.
