Abstract

Abstract: Weak gel has been applied successfully in water flooding reservoirs to modify profile and to control mobility for a few years. Results of laboratory experiments and field trials have indicated that the injection of the weak gel could observably improve sweep efficiency and enhance oil recovery in water flooding reservoirs. The laboratory investigation was conducted to
determine the influence of metallic ions and total salinity on weal gel. The results have showed that the factors, including types and concentration of the metallic ions ( Na⁺ 、K⁺ 、Mg ^{2+ 、}Ca ²⁺ )the total salinity, have important impacts on the properties of the weak gel.
