Abstract:

Water injection is a commonly used method for the development of oil field. However, oil recovery by water-flooding is usually low. As such, how to enhance oil recovery after water-flooding has been a challenge facing petroleum engineers. Gas injection flooding has long been considered as a viable EOR method in the petroleum industry, but the potential of gas injection after water-flooding is still unclear. In this paper, the schemes of gas injection after water-flooding in China and abroad are analyzed, and some of the Chinese case studies are reviewed.

Key words: water-flooded reservoir, gas injection, feasibility
