Abstract:

For developing large type of journal bearings of tubular hydro-generator set, the simulating test of the diameter 1740 mm tilting pad bearings with the diameter 360 mm model bearings were preceded. The maximum testing average pressure is 3.37 MPa. The minimum journal velocity is 3.77 m/s. The maximum journal velocity is 22.62 m/s. Experiment indicated that load and inlet oil pressure and speed and inlet oil temperature and preload factor influenced oil temperature rise and oil flow and dissipation and pad temperature and oil-film thickness at different degree. Among them, the influence of load and speed was remarkable. The journal bearings of the diameter 1740 mm are working dependably at HongYanzi water power plant. At the same time, the software for computing the thermo-elastic-hydrodynamic (TEHD) lubrication performance of journal bearings was developed to estimate oil-film pressure and oil-film temperature and oil-film thickness and dissipation and oil flow etc.

Key words: tilting pad journal bearing, simulating test, TEHD analysis
