Abstract: The aim of the present paper is to study photoelastic determination of stress intensity factors by means of measuring the area ringed by an isochromate near the end of a crack. Using our method, we have obtained some stress intensity factors for type Ⅰ and mixed type I-Ⅱ. The results keep stable, with errors less than 6%.
