Abstract

Abstract:

Four brachiopod zones are divided in the member of section at Yanmenba of Mt. Longmen .According to the principle of modern stratigraphy, the Lower-Middle Devonian boundary is drawn in the Euryspirifer yanme-nbaensis-Xenospirifer fongi Zone at the top of the Ganxi Formation, and the first appearance of Xenospirijer fungi is regarded as a sign. This boundary corresponds to the international bounbary-stratotype .A method is put forward to define a boundary between chronostratigraphic is units in a region without indicated fossil zones. It is proved that the sedimentary environment is a muddy shelf in the section member. Four new bracniopod species are described.
