Abstract: Based on the highresolution sequence stratigraphy theory, strata, sedimentation and lithofacies paleogeography, the fine highresolution sequence stratigraphy division and comparison have been done, and the highresolution isochronic sequence stratigraphy framework has been built, and the half cycle of base level elevating of middleterm baselevel cycle as the mapping unit has been selected, and the lithofacies paleogeography map of middleterm baselevel cycle has been established and its characteristic has been described. The sequences based lithofaciespaleogeography map made in this way is marked by several advantages like synchroneity and succession of the sedimentation process and hence is far more practical for exploration purposes. Furthermore, it more precisely reconstructs the primary geologic process, reveals certain unknown facts and proves more informative. The Permian System in South China was eventually exemplified to elaborate the aforementioned mapping method.
