“现代性”包括了如“短暂的永恒，过渡中的时尚；对传统的扬弃，对当下的适应”等意义。其核心在于改变传统，改变的方向则在于适应当下（即所谓“时代发展的要求”）。适应的目标本来是确立永恒，但是变化的本性则使这种永恒具有短暂的特征。在这种语境中，科技的进步，物质的丰富，文化的冲突，改变了人的生活方式，也改变了人的精神世界，从而导致了“以人为本”的人文精神的缺失。
Modernity includes meanings of "short eternity, transitional fashion, inheritance and innovation of the tradition, adaption to present.". The core of adaption is to change the tradition so as to adapt to the present. The goal is to establish the eternity, but the characteristic of change makes it transient. In this context, the advancement of technology, material wealth, and cultural conflicts have changed our lifestyles and spiritual world, which leads to the absence of "Person-centered" humanistic spirit.
