Abstract:

Objective: To explore the clinical effect of artificial teeth of magnetic attachment in prosthetics dentistry. Method: 10
patients with residual roots in our hospital were restored with magnetic attachment overdentures. The stability of the overdentures, their masticatory function, users' degree of satisfaction and problems they brought about were investigated in the three-year follow-upobservation. Result: In the 18 magnetic attachment overdentures used by the 10 patients, 2 butments suffered from gingivitis, and nosecondary caries, luxated butment, fracture of overdentures or fall of root panes occurred. The retention effect was satisfactory. Conclusion: Unlike the complete denture or removable partial denture which are not satisfactory in retention effect and masticatory function, the magnetic attachment denture is beautiful, comfortable, easy to use and butment- protecting. So it has good prospects in clinical application.
