Corresponding Relation of English and Chinese Idioms from a Cross-cultural Perspective

Over the long course of history, idioms established themselves as the gem of language with concise form but profound meaning. Moreover, they are linked to society, history and religion intimately. It can be found that idioms from English and Chinese correspond with each other to different extent by comparison. The deep roots which influence their differences lie in cultural factors,including cultural inclination, geography, custom and religious beliefs and the like. Therefore the intensive study of idioms is to find out the cultural influents behind them.
