Hypotheses on the Mental Representation of Homophone in Speech Production

Two hypotheses on the mental representation of homophones in the process of speech production were introduced, that is,the shared representation (SR)hypothesis and the independent representation (IR)hypothesis. The homophone representation hypotheses had an important role for the approach and stage of the lexical access, and had guiding significance on researching of homophones and improving the modern language teaching.

Abstract:
