Domestic and Foreign Research on American Female Playwright Susan-Lori Parks

Abstract:

Suzan- Lori Parks is the first African- American female dramatist who won the Pulitzer Prize. As an experimental
playwright and an African-American woman, Parks finds in postmodern drama both a penchant for formal innovation and an emphasis
on those marginalized in society and her works have exerted important influence in New York and the United States. By combing,
concluding and summarizing, the domestic and abroad research of Parks's works has the following characteristics: the analyzing angle
is diversifying; the research mainly focuses on single work, but the overall research is weak; most research has compared Parks's works
with other authors' works; the domestic research on Parks's works has just begun, and the study of Parks and her works has pioneering
significance and value; at the same time, it can rich China's African- American literature research, especially the research on
contemporary African-American drama.
