The Relationship between Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Social Support: Evidence from Primary and
Middle School Teachers Survived in Ludian Earthquake

Abstract:

This paper investigates the relationship between posttraumatic stress disorder and social support of primary and middle
school teachers survived in Ludian Earthquake. 532 primary and middle school teachers from two counties in Ludian earthquake area
were chosen as samples and were investigated by self-report questionnaires of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist and Social
Support Rating Scale in the fourth and ninth week after the earthquake. Survey results show that enhancing the objective support level
of the teachers in earthquake areas may be important to relieve their posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms.
