Abstract:

Since the Han Dynasty, two thousand years' history has witnessed the discussion of DONG Zhongshu who was a famous
politician and theorist of the Western Han Dynasty. In order to adapt to the political purpose of "unification" which was set up by the
Western Han Dynasty, DONG reconstructed the theological teleology "interaction between heaven and man", put forward the
suggestion of "ban from hundred philosophers, venerate Confucianism" to fully explain the Confucianism. He took Confucius and
Mencius, as well as Xuncius together, summarized and reconstructed the five elements of Yin and Yang to form a new theoretical
system of Confucianism. DONG provided a rigorous and comprehensive governance theory for the developing Western Han Dynasty,
and designed an effective plan for the future political activities and social development. DONG's design for the Han Dynasty did play a
strengthening centralized political function. Since then, two thousand years' ruling of feudal society had followed DONG's design
patterns, which might be out of DONG's expectation.
