Abstract:

Objective: To investigate the safety of performing orthopedic operation in HIV carrier. Methods: Reviewed and analyzed
the clinical data of 26 orthopedic patients with HIV infection from May 2006 to April 2014. Results: There were 26 HIV carriers who
received orthopedic operations. There were 21 men and 5 women. 21 patients suffered 26 limb fractures, one lumbar burst fractures,
one benign bone tumor, one malignant tumor bone metastasis, one hand injury, and one low limb infectious gangrene needing
amputation. There was no patient with incision infection, and all fractures healed well without peri-implant infection. Conclusion: For
