Abstract:

Objective: To explore the role of nursing intervention in process of smoking cessation for patients with COPD and to
provide a theoretical foundation for nursing work. Methods: Using the random grouping method, 70 COPD patients who were in
hospital from March to July in 2014 were divided into observation group and control group with 35 patients in each group randomly.
The observation group received the comprehensive nursing intervention, while the control group used the traditional mode. We had
observed the smoking situation in this two group patients for 1 year. Results: The success ratio of smoking cessation in observation
group reached to 60.0%(21/35)and the success ratio in control group is 35.3%(12/34)except 1 case lost. The result is significance
different(P<0.05). Conclusion: Psychological behavior intervention, speech of successful smoking cessation and follow-up phone
calls are the effective measures that increased the success ratio of stopping cessation in patients with COPD, which is worthy of
popularization.
