Abstract:

Objective: To study the antioxidant activity of flavonoids compounds from pine needles of Pinus yunnanensis Franch and
to provide the basis for the utilization of pine needles of Pinus yunnanensis Franch. Methods: Extraction, purification and freezedrying
treatments were carried out with ethyl alcohol for dried and grinded pine needles of Pinus yunnanensis Franch; thus total
flavonoid extracts were obtained. DPPH was used to study the ability of scavenging free radicals of flavonoids from pine needles of
Pinus yunnanensis Franch. TBA was used to study the inhibiting effect of flavonoids from pine needles of Pinus yunnanensis Franch on
MDA in the mice liver tissue homogenate. Results: Flavonoids from pine needles of Pinus yunnanensis Franch had scavenging effect
on DPPH and could inhibit the generation of spontaneous liver homogenate lipid peroxidation MDA. Conclusion: The flavonoids from
pine needles of Pinus yunnanensis Franch had a strong anti-oxidant effect.

Key words: pine needles of Pinus yunnanensis Franch, flavonoids, DPPH, antioxidation
