Abstract: To maintain the purity and advanced nature of the Communist Party of China，it is a must to establish the dynamic mechanism of contending for excellence by party organizations and members. According to the particularity of the dynamic mechanism of contending for excellence by party organizations and members in universities and considering the reality of the universities，this paper analyzes the nature and construction of the this dynamic mechanism and concludes that the key to an effective dynamic mechanism is to transcend the limitations of the internal motivation and to guarantee the extrinsic motivation. The core of dynamic mechanism construction is to change the mentality of the party members from “have to do” to “must do”. In this way，we can make sure the campaign of contending for excellences goes on effectively and regularly so that the universities function well in an allround way.
