A Study on Social Adaptation of Taiwanese Enterprises in China Mainland and Their Adaptation Strategies

Abstract: Based on eight different academic theories and schools of thoughts,this paper gives the definition of social adaptation at the enterprise level,and explores social adaption issues and corresponding strategies of Taiwanese enterprise in China mainland. The exploration reveals that Taiwanese enterprises would face issues of niche adaptation,social network adaptation and institutional environment adaptation in China mainland. Their corresponding strategies are separation strategy and assimilation strategy,which will result in assimilative adaptation,separative adaptation,assimilative maladaptation and separative maladaptation. These four outcomes are determined by the enterprise's ability and strategies to adapt to the social and market environment. The key for adaptation is enterprise's adaptive ability. Therefore,we think Taiwanese enterprise should build its social adaptation mechanism and model for better adaptation to the social and market environment.
