Abstract: This paper introduces the current development of the construction industry. Based on the current situation of traditional talent training and BIM teaching reform in foreign universities,we analyze the problems in the teaching reform of engineering management major in China. The application of BIM technology to the teaching reform program of engineering management major is now faced with difficulties in that the 3D modeling is not applicable to very large construction projects, that the length of construction period and complexity of construction technologies make it difficult to describe construction projects in teaching by means of BIM technology, that has project management involves various aspects which is not easy to comprehend, and that students cannot fully understand the significance and role of BIM technology as limited class hours makes it difficult for them to act as all the participants in a construction project. We hope that this analysis may trigger a discussion on the teaching reform in China's universities, and provide a reference for the application of BIM technology in the teaching reform of engineering management major.
