Abstract: Gong Liu and Mian in the Book of Poetry or Shijing are the earliest records of people's migrations in the Zhou Dynasty. The two migrations recorded in the two poems are true according to researches. However, it is hard to interpret the details of the migration in the two poems because they happened long ago and it is difficult to understand the ancient writing. Records of the Historian fabricated and exaggerated the speeches of Gong Liu and King Tai of the Zhou Dynasty or Gugong Danfu, and its records about the times of Hou Ji and Gong Liu's generation were inconsistent. Mencius, Zhuangzi, Guanzi, and Maozhuan and Zhenjian replenished the time, place and details of people's migration in the Zhou Dynasty attempting to portray Gong Liu and Gugong Danfu as sage-kings, which were random deduction and explanation from the established concept. Since modern times, the application of piphilology, philology and archaeology, especially the introduction of modern science and technology makes it possible to check the accuracy of multiple evidence. We need to rely on multiple evidence method so as to acquire more accurate data and to reach more accurate conclusion.
