Abstract: The 12th Fiveyear Plan for Nanchong′s Economic and Social Development stresses that urban construction in Nanchong will “focus on the building and developing of the downtown area and strengthening strategy of ‘northsouth extension，tricenter development’”.We sum up the achievements in urban construction，innovation in human settlement construction and urban social mangement，and based on the status quo of urban construction and development in Nanchong，we also find out some existing problems.Urban cosntruction in Nanchong City lacks contuity；city culture image is not distinctive enough；urban planning lacks clear function division and therefore the city itself fails to represente its designed definition.Those findings lead to our suggestions，which we hope will offer positive reference to Nanchong′s future development.
