Abstract: Translation workshop, a method of translation teaching, deserves more attention in terms of its proof-reading procedure. With the data gathered through translation logs, questionnaires and open-ended interviews, we made a study on senior English majors about their proofreading in the translation workshop and found:1. Teachers'suggestions on improvement play a key role in solving the difficulties in translation; some students are not confident in their capability of solving problems in translation. 2. The students place much weight on consistency of terminology translation and on translation fluency, and the fluency and readability of the translation are greatly improved at the later stage of the experiment; 3. Textual coherence and logical flaws of the translation gain the least attention during the proofreading procedure; some subjects cannot detect the logical flaws in translation; 4. Smaller alterations go hand in hand with less improvement in the quality of the translation, with the process of proofreading being more mechanical accordingly. The study shows that the logical thinking and judgment of a translator should be given more attention to in proofreading training to avoid being replaced by CAT technologies.
