The Role of Fault in the Petroleum Migration and Accumulation

Abstract

Abstract: In this paper,petroleum sources on Lower Tertiary of Wuxing structural belt in Yitong graben,Jilin Provinces is studied by geochemistry method. It is indicated that there are two sources of petroleum, their maturity is not high enough (Ro=0.6-0.8%). One comes from Yongji Formation in Xinanbao, which results in the accumulation of commercial petroleum, distributes near No.2 fault. Another comes from Shuangyang Formation, it is far away from No.2 fault and with no productive capacity. No.2 fault plays a very important role in the petroleum migration and accumulation in this area.
