Abstract:
Petroleum development geology, as a cross discipline combined modern petroleum geology with petroleum development engineering, has played an important role in improvement of petroleum field development and technology application. The object of reservoir characterization in the future is acquiring information of 3D dynamic structures of reservoir in time. Reservoir characterization necessitates evaluation methods and control techniques of reservoir properties on physical-chemistry and geochemistry. Residual oil distribution and prediction, reservoir evolution theory and control engineering during petroleum field development will be found more application. Understanding and description of complicated reservoirs will be increasingly relied on geomechanics, petrophysics, interfical chemistry, clay mineralogy, nanometer science and technology. The paper has discussed the middle and long term development targets and strategically tasks of the discipline. And it has suggested that reservoir petrophysics, reservoir development geochemistry, development geology for unconventional gas, reservoir characterization and geological modeling, residual oil distribution theory and development engineering are priority development fields. It alsoemphasizes that much attention should be paid on the construction of typical study base and establishing long and stable base for theory and new technology innovations.
Key words: petroleum field development, petroleum geology, reservoir geology, reservoir characterization
