Abstract: According to the actual parameters of detection equipment of MFL, the finite element emulator model is established. The shape and the parameters of the exciting coil are determined, and optimal signal/noise ratio gained. The thin iron plate acts as auxiliary magnetic path surrounding the Hall sensors and the coils, which eliminates the end effects. The Hall sensors are improved by setting iron plate on its twoside surfaces, which increases its abilities to test the axial direction component of the magnetic flux leakage signals. Emulation data is basically coincident with lab result. The research results have been used in developing new MFL testing equipment.
