About Journal

Linguistic Sciences, which firstly appeared in 2002, is a relatively new publication of linguistics on the scene. It has been independently managed and administrated by devoted scholars at the Institute of Linguistics at the Jiangsu Normal University in Jiangsu, People’s Republic of China.
Linguistic Sciences covers the areas of general linguistics, Chinese linguistics and non-Chinese linguistics. It publishes original linguistics from all countries. Notably Noam Chomsky published his first ever academic paper in mainland China in our initial issue in 2002, which has produced very positive effects in attracting high quality paper submissions both in Chinese and English from other distinguished linguistics and inspiring young scholars. Howard Lasnik, Cedric boeckx, C.-T. James Huang, Y.-H. Audrey Li, among others, have published in this journal. Linguistic Sciences encourages creative research in interdisciplinary and other new subfields, such as neurolinguistics and biolinguistics. The journal not only insists on critical originality, data interpretation and reflective argumentation, but also emphasizes cross references of Chinese and western scholars’ viewpoints, keeping the journal in line with the world academic level.
Linguistic Sciences is the only one journal that pays extra attention to discover fresh talent in the field and has published articles written by graduate students, which accounts for 23% of all the papers. Many of them have now become well known scholars.
Edited by a distinguished editorial board of members both form mainland China and overseas, Linguistic sciences has proved to be a publication with distinguished vision, achievements, and innovation spirit, which is attested by its inclusion by all the three major social sciences databases of China, climaxing by the covering of CSSCI in 2008, after only 6 years of its launching. Linguistic Sciences has soon had a very decent and increasing circulation in China as well as in some other foreign countries since its first appearance in 2002. It is today regarded as one of the most distinguished journals in linguistics and is currently in the top group of all journals in the field of linguistics in China.
