Guide to Authors

 

I. Submission guidelines
1. Address of submission
From October 2012, Linguistic Sciences begins to introduce an online submission system (website portal: www.linsci.com). Manuscripts with special characters that are hard to be submitted via the online system can be sent through postal mail and/or online.

2. Formats of manuscript
Authors should register and login at the online submission portal, and then submit the manuscripts according to the requirements of the submission system. Electronic files should be provided in WORD and PDF formats. If special fonts are used, the font file should be sent as attachment along with the manuscript.
 
II. Style sheet
An asterisk (*) at the end of the article title will refer to a footnote for acknowledgments, fund project; thereafter, all footnotes will be in an uninterrupted, numeric sequence, beginning with “1”.
Begin article sections with “1”. Examples, figures and tables should each be numbered separately.
Order the sections as follows:

Order examples like this:

Assign consecutive numbers to examples throughout the document; do not renumber from “(1)” for each section of the article.
 
Citation formats:
As part of a running text: author (year), or author (year:page)
E.g., Baker (1988), Chomsky (1995:123)
As a parenthetic note: (author year), or (author year:page)
E.g., (Baker 1984), (Chomsky 1999:123)
In general, avoid using titles, such as Dr., Professor, or Chairman.

III. Refereeing
Linguistic Sciences follows the “double-blind” refereeing procedure. The identities of both the authors and the referees remain confidential. Papers are edited and published according to international standards. Authors will be advised the decision of assessment within 3 months after receipt of manuscripts. The journal is responsible for the timeliness of major original academic achievements and has set up an “express channel”. Authors should indicate “express channel” when submitting the manuscript. The author will be advised the decision of assessment within 50 days if the manuscript is considered a major achievement. 
 
IV. Manuscript processing
Multiple submissions are unacceptable. Should this occur, the manuscript would be handled accordingly.
Authors are responsible for the authenticity of the paper. The journal has the right to edit or delete the wording in the paper where necessary according to the Copyright Law. The author should indicate objection, if any, of such revision in writing along with submission of manuscript.
Manuscripts will not be returned to the authors. Please keep a backup for future reference.
 
V. Copyright
Once the manuscript is accepted for publication, copyright of the paper (also including disk and internet formats) is transferred to Linguistic Science. Objections, if any, should be indicated expressly along with submission of manuscripts.
