Investigation on the Cognition of Nursing Staff on the Factors Influencing the Safety of Patients

Abstract:

Objective: To explore the factor of cognition of nursing staff in influencing the safety of patients in The First People's
Hospital of Dali and to provide guidance for further improving hospital nursing safety management work . Methods: Clinical nursing
staff patient safety culture assessment questionnaire was used among 320 hospital nursing staff. Results: The scoring of eight
dimensions of patient safety factors are listed below: Hospital management support is(4.520 ±0.118), the head nurse participation is
(4.515 ±0.055), the nurse executive force is(3.010±0.210), team work is(4.292±0.103), open communication is(4.156±0.113),
continuous improvement is(4.530±0.138), punitive feeling is(3.317±0.180), adverse event report is(2.032±0.116). There was no
statistically significant difference comparing different dimensions within the group. Conclusion: Most of nurses in The First People's
Hospital of Dali had higher secondary level cognitive status of patient safety culture, and five of them needs further improvement in
"nurses' execution", "punitive feeling", and "adverse event reporting".
