Abstract: Conforming to "the Belt and Road" Initiative, the legal system of oil and gas International cooperation, which has met the realistic demands of reformation on oil and gas system, is a desired ideal goal. In the context of "the Belt and Road" initiative, countries around the world are in closer cooperation in the field of oil and gas; the legal system of oil and gas International cooperation has provided regulations and rules for countries to follow in the oil and gas International cooperation. However, due to the differences between the countries in history, economy and politics and so on, China is faced with challenges in the legal basis, cooperation system, operational mechanism, proceeding norm and disputing resolution agency when cooperating with the countries and regions along "the Belt and Road" in the field of oil and gas. Currently, under the background of positively boosting "the Belt and Road" cooperation, an all-round and multi-layered legal system of oil and gas International cooperation needs to be established and formed by improving the mechanism for oil and gas International cooperation system, perfecting the oil and gas International cooperation approaches, regulating the proceeding operation mechanism and by introducing multiple mechanism for disputing resolution so that the oil and gas International cooperation will be on the track of sustainable development.
