Abstract:

The survey made in universities in Nanjing found that“post-90”young students are fully positive to the importance
of dream and belief, but are insufficient in perseverance and confidence to achieve the dream. Having rational political emotion
and attitude, they tend to hold plural personal faiths instead of sharing common ideals and beliefs. With a strong consciousness
of social responsibility, they make life choices based on pragmatic and utilitarian criteria. This is the result of current
social background, university education system, characteristics of“post-90”young students and other factors. The reasons for
these results are: the imbalance between economic and moral development, the confusion about value choice under multicultural
conflicts, the one-sided development of current university education system,and“post-90”young students’ self-factors
etc. The authors believe that cultivating and practicing socialist core values, setting up cultural confidence of the young students,
pursuing harmony between tool value and the humanistic value, perfecting ideal and faith education in universities, and
strengthening publicity and education of the“China Dream”should be the basic countermeasures to guide“post-90”young
students to establish and strengthen common ideals and beliefs among young students.
