Abstract: Neighborhood diplomacy plays a prominent role in the overall layout of China's diplomacy with major powers in the new era. Seen from a long time span,the principal logic of China's neighborhood diplomacy is the change in role orientation with continuity in the good-neighbor policy. Based on the understanding of the relation between national interests and external environment, China's neighborhood diplomacy in the new era is more aggressive with inheritance and innovation in both concepts and practice at a higher level. China is taking a more active part in regional multilateral cooperation and its material and institutional influences gets promoted with the supply of regional public goods. As for the internal motivation mechanism, China endeavors to develop new relationships with neighboring areas and nations to safeguard and expand national interests, while making more contributions to regional governance and laying foundation for a community of shared future for mankind.
