AN ANALYSIS OF SHAKESPEARE′S KING LEAR FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF BAKHTIN′S THEORY

Abstract: The Bakhtin theory was proposed by the famous Western literary theorist Bakhtin based on his interdisciplinary research in the 20th century.Its ideological core can be summed up as “Dialogism”,“Polyphonic Novel Theory” and “Carnivalesque Poetry”.King Lear,one of the greatest tragedies in literary history,is full of imbuing dialogue relationship,polyphonic narrative and carnival spirit in novel construction,artistic features and spiritual implication.Based on Bakhtin′s polyphonic theory,this paper explores new human relationship in the polyphonic carnival world in this drama and reveals its profound social significance.
