Abstract: Through a case study of country women′s social circle in the Xue Village in north Anhui, the author explores the major forms and characteristics of their social circles and influencing factors. An empirical study reveals that social interaction is the major leisure time activity of country women.Their social circles are based on traditional family kinship and on more modern circles of shared interests as well.As country communities are transforming from traditional to modern ones, country women′s social interaction undergoes similar transformation. With modern interaction taking the place of traditional one, individual centered social interaction circles are emerging, which calls for serious concern and careful studies.
