Abstract: The petroleum industry is of high energy consumption industry，and it has always attached importance to energysaving work.The development of energy conservation technology in petroleum industry is an effective way of promoting energy conservation in this industry.This paper reviews articles published by related Chinese journals from 2009 to June 2010，and investigates the current situation and development in this study field with bibliometrics as research method，and the analysis shows that the energy conservation in oil and gas exploration and petrochemical producing is the hot spot，in which the petroleum machinery becomes the most frequently researched aspect because of its enormous potential.However，studies of energy conservation in petroleum industry focus more on technologies and their application.Theoretical researches in this field are not enough to build a normative energysaving evaluation system or investment model from the social economic angle.This paper′s results provide a reference for the future research and application of energy conservation technology in petroleum industry.
