Abstract: Based on the theory of bibliometrics, this paper conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses of the linguisticsrelated theses published from 2006 to 2015 in Web of Science, looking into publishing years of articles, research subject distribution, the countries and districts of articles, journal publication and authors, and the citation frequency of articles for the general assessment of the status quo of linguistic researches across the world. We also discuss the research directions and the citations of the papers in China, in comparison with those in America. The research results show that in recent years linguistics has seen a stable development, and is becoming increasingly interdisciplinary with an extension into new research fields. And language materials and other related disciplines play an important role in the development of the linguistics in countries and regions that occupy the dominant position in linguistics research. Based on the analyses, the present paper tries to provide references for the development of linguistics in China.
