Abstract: South Zhili Province(南直隶)in the Ming Dynasty mainly consists of today’s Jiangsu Province,Anhui Province and Shanghai City. In the 15 provinces of Ming Dynasty,South Zhili Province had the largest amount of Juren during the Ming Dynasty. When editing the historical records,we analyzed the geographical distribution of Juren in South Zhili Province and found out that Huating County (华亭县),Wujin County (武进县),Changshu County (常熟县),Changzhou County (长洲县) and other counties with important state in geographic and cultural sense have about 75% Juren in South Zhili Province during the Ming Dynasty. As South Zhili Province was once the capital and then a second capital in the Ming Dynasty, such investigation can reveal some reality about imperial examinations to some extent.
