NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF AIR INJECTION LOW TEMPERATURE OXIDATION IN LOW PERMEABILITY RESERVOIRS

Abstract: This research investigates the feasibility of air injection LTO(low temperature oxidation)process for improved oil recovery(IOR) in low permeability reservoirs in Shengli Oilfield.Laboratory experiment on oil oxidation and reservoir unmerical simulation methods are used in the assessment for LTO and IOR mechanism analysis and sensitivity studies on various reservoirs and engineering parameters.Economic analysis is also conducted in comparison with N2 injection process in terms of IOR and field operation for Luo36 Block.The studies show that the influential factors in terms of incremental oil recovery and LTO reaction for the field ranked from air injection rate,reservoir temperature,remaining oil saturation,reservoir dip angle and to perforation locations.Compared with N2 injection,air injection can be an effective IOR option with low cost and high oil recovery for the low permeability reservoirs in the region.
