Abstract:

This paper analyzes the concepts of culture, sports culture, and sports culture festival by means of literature review, questionnaires and mathematical statistics. The authors conducted questionnaire survey and field research about the goal and motivation for students to participate in the festival, the number of students participating in the festival, factors influencing students’participation, and students’satisfaction after participation. The research reveals that sports culture festival is not held in many colleges and universities of Chengdu city;the history of sports culture festival differs from college to college;there lack experiences in festival and activity organization;students’participation rate is low;sports facilities are not adequate and daily training is not well organized and managed. In order to promote the development of sports culture festival in colleges and universities,we suggest the following measures and methods: policy support from the university authorities, advanced management, exchange and sharing of experiences among colleges and universities about sports culture festival, and enhanced publicity for higher student participation. We need also to establish the coach mechanism to guarantee students’daily training, and the sports culture festival need to be connected to the local ethnic characteristics.
