Abstract:

Climate change could impede our abilities to achieve sustainable

development.Economic development seems contradictory to reliable energy

supply and stable climate.Most of the world′s energy comes from burning 

fossil fuels such as coal，oil，and natural gaswhich are also major

sources of greenhouse gases.Without scalable lowcarbon replacements for

these fuels，actions to reduce emissions could destabilize the current

energy system.On the other hand，continued dependence on these fuels will

jeopardize our climate.In the strategy option of low carbon economy，

there is an opportunity to produce enormous benefits for economic and social

development through energy savings，enhanced energy security，and job

creation.
