Abstract: China’s industrial zones and other types of zones are areas with the most concentrated carbon emissions. It is an important measure for Sichuan Province to promote the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals by means of developing green low-carbon industrial zones and constructing near-zero carbon emission zones. We analyze the current situation of carbon emissions in Sichuan Province and find out that carbon emissions showed an obvious upward trend in Sichuan; industry is the major contributor of carbon emission with coal consumption taking the lead; the proportion of clean energy consumption is increasing by year. We put forward suggestions for the construction of near-zero carbon emission zones in Sichuan Province to fuel the future economic growth. Through efforts in differentiated near-zero carbon emission zone construction, low-carbon industrial transition, carbon emission reduction technology development and application, digitalization in carbon emission management, and ecological carbon sink layout design, economic structure in Sichuan Province will be upgraded.

Key words: carbon peaking, carbon neutrality, low carbon, near-zero carbon emission, industrial zone, Sichuan Province
