Writing Therapy in Social Work Value Education

Abstract: Although great progress has been made in the quantity and quality of social work education in China, social work students still lack a sense of professional belonging. Based on the personal history analysis of social work professional education, it is found that writing therapy can be a feasible choice of value education for social work professional education in that it can contribute to the promotion of personal and professional identity in social work education. Through writing therapy, social work students will be inspired in professional ambition, team work, executive force and sense of self-fulfillment, which finally internalize professional social work values with increased self-recognition,sense of belonging and professional identity. Based on this, this paper constructs the principles, procedures and methods of writing therapy application in social work value education, so as to promote the establishment of social work education system with Chinese characteristics.
