Thirty -seven researches based on the mental health of the college freshmen enrolled in the recent five years have
undergone a gender based meta-analysis. The results showed that the effect size differences of male and female college freshmen in obsessive-compulsive(Z=2.70, P=0.007), interpersonal sensitivity(Z=2.57, P=0.01), depression(Z=6.64, P<0.000 01), anxiety(Z= 5.68, P<0.000 01)and phobia anxiety(Z=10.74, P<0.000 01)were significantly different.
